Resolving Repeating Defects

Please perform the following troubleshooting steps in order.

Print a service test page first to evaluate print quality issues.
Use the CMYK test page when troubleshooting repeating defects issues.

If there is no defects on this page the problem may be caused by a driver, application or other settings. Go back to the start of infoSMART and try a different troubleshooting search criteria.

Verify that the paper / media you are using meets with the printer's specifications. Many print quality issues can be traced to incorrect paper being used or the paper being loaded incorrectly in the trays.

From the printer's front panel, select Information and press OK.

Use the down arrow to scroll to Information Pages and press OK.

Scroll down to Print Paper Tips Page and press OK. Media / paper specifications, paper tips and trays 2,3, or 4 and tray 1 (MPT) setup instructions will be printed.

Return to the first level menu on the front panel and press Troubleshooting, OK, Print Quality Problems, OK, Troubleshooting Print Quality Page, OK, to verify that the paper type, color corrections and print quality modes and driver settings are correct.

Note:
The TekColor Correction set to Automatic provides the best results for most documents.

Run Remove Print Smears page.

To evaluate which consumable may be causing the defects print a Repeating Defects Page. Use this page to measure and determine what is causing the problem.

Replace the imaging unit if the defects occur every:

25 mm (1 in.)
-
28 mm ((1.1 in.)
-
62.0 mm (2.4 in.)
-
132 mm (5.2 in)

Replace the transfer roller if the defects occur every:

Replace the fuser if the defect occurs every 82 mm (3.2 in.):
